SOPHIA MARIA FAVELA

b. 1997 Amsterdam, The Netherlands

ABOUT

As a young, bicultural woman, I’m questioning the world I am growing up in. I am looking for answers and ways to expres my critical view on western society through topics such as identity, culture, and women.
This quest results in vulnerable images with a rough edge characterized by an interest in honesty.

Using photography as a tool, I am searching for the relationship between personal, intimate stories and current social issues. My work allows space for my activistic believes and visual expression to co exist. With the goal of opening a dialogue, I invite the viewer to question themselves and their surroundings.

As I develop myself as an artist, I continue to widen my references and expand my environment, allowing me to create more inclusive work and represent a realness of all human beings.
